As a bowler, I always bring some gear with me, so I can try out local bowling centers when I travel. This year's holiday vacation from New York to North Carolina being no exception, I was happy to see quite a few choices and opted to go to George Pappas' Liberty Lanes...how could I not bowl in a house owned by a PBA HOF'r and a native son? The center was brightly lit, spotless, a fair amount of families bowling and some folks practicing, like myself. The wooden approaches were clean and well-maintained, as were the lanes, pins, pinsetters and ball returns. The house shot was very playable and there was good pin action too. The young lady and gentleman at the front desk were very friendly and professional and generously let me take home three used pins as souvenirs. The snack bar person was also professional and pleasant and I enjoyed my pickled egg and corn dogs! If you live here, you don't need me to tell you about this house. But if you don't, and if bowling is on your mind, stop by....you'll be glad you did!
